Alabama Firefighter Dies Days After Gunman Shoots Him And Coworker Inside Fire Station

Two firefighters were shot inside the fire station while at work on July 12 in a sad incident at Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service (BFRS) Station No. 9.
The attack took the life of one of the firefighters, BFRS Firefighter Jordan Melton, on July 19.
The other firefighter, BFRS Firefighter Jamal Jones, is still being treated for a significant injury in the hospital.
A reward of $15,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the shooter, who has not yet been found.
While firefighters were performing morning maintenance tasks, at least one male suspect broke into the fire station and started shooting.
Firefighter Melton, who joined the BFRS over a year ago and recently completed the recruit academy, is now a firefighter.
He was described as a young brother full of life who developed powerful connections with his fellow firefighters.
The people of Birmingham, including Mayor Randal Woodfin, are grieving the loss and committed to bringing Melton's kin justice.
Authorities suspect that the victims were especially targeted; the investigation is still ongoing.
The firefighting community has been greatly touched by this unfortunate incident, and they are determined to pay honor to Melton's memory and dedication to the city.
