Sandy Carazas-Pinez, a local woman who worked as a teacher at the Biondi School in Yonkers, New York, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old student there. If found guilty, she could receive a life sentence.
She was detained and accused of generating child pornography and forcing a victim who was underage to engage in illegal sexual activity.
The obligatory minimum sentences for the charges are 10 years and 15 years in prison, respectively.
According to authorities, Carazas-Pinez made use of her position as a teacher to convince the student to engage in sexual activity.
When her acts were exposed, the Biondi School quickly removed her from the classroom and terminated her after conducting an internal investigation.
According to the accusation against Carazas-Pinez, she allegedly used her personal cell phone to set up sexual encounters with the student after choosing to focus on them specifically for attention.
Additionally, she allegedly sent sexually explicit texts, provocative pictures, and live-streamed sexual activity to the student. Carazas-Pinez is also charged with encouraging extracurricular sexual activity by advising the student to get day passes.
Anyone with relevant details is invited to contact the FBI, which conducted the investigation alongside other law enforcement organizations. The allegations are accusations, according to the U.S.
attorney's office, and Carazas-Pinez is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
