Officer resigns after alleged ‘inappropriate contact’ with high schooler

Nguyen, a Dracut High School resource officer, turned in his letter of resignation on Wednesday after spending time on paid administrative leave while the matter was being looked into about the alleged "inappropriate contact."
Unknown is the precise date that Nguyen was given a leave of absence.
In a press statement, Dracut Police Chief Peter Bartlett announced his resignation.
Nguyen's departure doesn't change the fact that the inquiry will go on until it is finished.
Nguyen joined the department in May 2019 after serving as a correctional officer with the Middlesex
Sheriff's Office, according to his since-deleted LinkedIn profile.
He had previously worked as a security guard for several neighborhood businesses, including Lowell General Hospital.
He attended Lowell Catholic High School and UMass Lowell before graduating.
